LANCASTER, N.Y. (March 26, 2017) – Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway is pleased to announce a slate of improvement projects for their multiple-award winning WNY facility.
Two improvements will be made to the dragway portion of the facility starting with the replacement of the burnout box, as well as the two sections of concrete just in front of them. Oak Orchard Concrete, owned by long-time drag racing supporter Tim Payne, was awarded the bid.

Thus, the first Race of Champions Modified event for 2017 will be the “Fans in the Stands 75” scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 29 at WNY’s Premier Motorsports facility.
LANCASTER, N.Y. (March 11, 2017) – Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway hosted its annual Driver Registration party on Friday night at Magruder’s Pub & Restaurant in Depew, N.Y.
The enthusiasm surrounding the exciting 2016 season at Lancaster has not diminished during the offseason as more than 150 teams signed up for the 2017 campaign for the Franco’s Pizza Friday IHRA Drag Racing program and the X-Press Signs Saturday Night Stock Car Series. That is an increase of 30 teams from last year’s registration event.
LANCASTER, N.Y. (March 10, 2017) – As part of a series of announcements made during its annual preseason registration meeting on Friday, Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway announced that X-Press Signs of West Seneca, N.Y. has agreed to become the title sponsor of its Stock Car program.
LANCASTER, N.Y. (February 10, 2017) – The recent resurgence of Lancaster National Speedway and Dragway was recognized this week by the motorsports website Speed51.com’s annual awards known as “The 51’s”.
Lancaster National Speedway Track President Tim Packman received the Promoter of the Year award in just his first season in the position. The facility experienced continued growth in 2016 under Packman’s leadership, with additional facility improvements, increased car and fan counts and new events added to the schedule. Packman was chosen out of a group of 20 nominees from around the country.

“Being nominated in as many categories as we were was an honor in itself,” Packman said. “We were in with some big names and series on that list. These are great victories for Lancaster and we appreciate everybody voting.”
Lancaster was also recognized in the Photo of the Year category as a picture of Dave Rigan’s crash during the Ol’ Boy Cup 60 last June won the award. The photo, taken by Duane Canfield, captured Rigan’s Modified in mid-air after impacting the Thermal Foam blocks in Turn 3. The picture is a demonstration of how the expandable polystyrene soft walls produced by Thermal Foams protects Lancaster’s drivers in a crash. Rigan was uninjured in the crash.
In addition, Lancaster National Speedway track announcer Dave Buchanan finished third in the final voting for the Short Track Announcer of the Year category. Buchanan began his announcing career at Lancaster in 1996 when he was 14 years old. It was the first time he was nominated for the honor.
Several drivers that competed at Lancaster during the 2016 season were nominated in various categories as well. Former track champion Andy Jankowiak won the Best Personality category for his positive attitude, willingness to connect with fans and his colorful social media posts that document his travels on the Modified circuit.
Lancaster National Speedway and Dragway is busy preparing for the 2017 racing season. The stock car season opener is scheduled for Saturday, April 22. The Franco’s Pizza IHRA Drag Racing season begins with test and tune on Friday, April 28 and the first points race is scheduled for Friday, May 5
